Abstract

This article presents the evolution of selected scientific fund indicators in the areas of Literature and Linguistics, during the years 2009 to 2019, within the scope of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). To this end, raw data on investments from the body’s main Public Calls serving the areas of Literature and Linguistics were compiled. In order to show that the low rate of concessions is not due to the quality of the projects, but to the low availability of funds, the relationship between requests and recommendations is analyzed, taking as an example the evaluation carried out by the Subcommittee of the Linguistics area, in the period 2016-2019. Investments in other areas of knowledge are also presented, with the aim of carrying out a comparative reading of scientific funding in the Great Area of Human, Social and Applied Social Sciences, as well as with selected areas in other Great Areas of Knowledge. Finally, we seek to present na Agenda that combines the individual demands of researchers with the collective strategies of scientific communities and associations to advance scientific support in Literature and Linguistics at CNPq.
