The 1960s were marked by a strong cultural and intellectual development in the Serra Gaúcha region and, specifically, in the city of Caxias do Sul. This article aims to discuss to what extent some events that occurred in 1967 were fundamental for the consolidation of the literary system in the mountains. To this end, starting from the literary review of texts that deal with the theme, a brief contextualization of the literary landscape of the 1960s is carried out, in order to highlight the events that marked the year 1967 in the literature of the region. With a view to contributing to the studies of the history of Gaucho literature, notably that produced in the northeast region of the state, it discusses, finally, the epic poem Gaú-chê-rama-ura, by Zulmiro Lermen, whose publication is part of the time frame adopted here.
